The photos to the right show two views of a hardened way surface removed from a Reishauer Model NZA Gear Grinder that was not properly prepared before movement. To the right of the way surface is shown the type of needle roller bearing found in many Reishauer Grinders. Your most serious concern is that because way surfaces are internal and not visible on inspection, this type of damage would not be discovered until after the machine is installed and grinding gears, when the imperfections will show up on the work.
(The machine from which these samples were taken was eventually scrapped as the damage resulting from improper preparation was irreparable.)

At Cadillac Machinery Company, Inc. we will not purchase a Reishauer grinder unless we can take possession of the machine on its original foundation. Preparation for safe movement is done by our own employees or experienced technicians.

Reishauers are like instruments - extremely accurate. When you buy a Reishauer, you'd best know it was properly prepared before being moved from its original foundation or you could endanger your whole investment.
